From
3rd to 17th November 2002 22 Italian students of the class 4 F of Liceo
Linguistico visited our sister school Hill Top High School of Chula Vista,
California. After their stay in California, the students spent three days
in New York.
All the students were welcomed with sincere warmth by their host families,
and at the moment of leaving their American parents, brothers and sisters
many tears were shed. Family life gave them the opportunity to get to know
habits, ideas, traditions, values, food of the host country and forget the
usual stereotypes.
During their stay the students attended regularly school and were able to
notice the differences between the Italian and American school
system.
The whole experience was also extremely useful for our students' knowledge
of English, as it was the only communication means they had.
The conclusion was a three-day visit of New York, where the group stayed
in small apartments in Manhattan, near Central Park.
We visited the Statue
of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Chinatown, Fifth Avenue, Times
Square, the Rockefeller Centre, the Metropolitan Museum, Central Park,
Brooklyn, Seaport Village, the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art, the
American Museum of Natural History. |
